Dr. Van Til was a friend of mine the last eight years of his life. I met him in 1979 soon after marrying and moving to the Philadelphia area. Passed into glory 6 days before our second son was born. I had studied with one of his students, Dr. James M. Grier at Cedarville University, who taught us his presuppositional apologetics. Having read his books, it was a great honor to get to know him and become his friend. I have many fond memories of him which I will share on this page in the coming months, but the I will say now, that the thing about him that impressed and impacted me the most, was his godliness, his humble boldness of character. He posed for me numerous times and helped advise me on my original copperplate etching portrait series entitled The Princeton/Westminster Theologians. He was generous with his time, counsel, encouragement––and he loved to sign my prints and drawings as an endorsement of my work. I completed this portrait of him late fall of 2018. It is based on old black and white photos I took of him in his rooms at his home at 16 Rich Avenue. I trust that it captures the essence of his character.
